FIA ETCR top images and moments from 2022

To cap off an incredible first season of the FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup we asked some of the key figures from the year to choose their favourite images from the season and look back at the key moments for some of our drivers in 2022.

Kevin Ceccon

I like this one because you can clearly see my concentration before a session starts.

I like this one because it shows the relationship with the fans – especially the young ones.

I like this one as general because I love all street circuits.

Luca Filippi

In terms of performance, Sachsenring was my best weekend of the season. I was super competitive over the whole weekend, and the car felt great. And I think I drove well, confidently and comfortable all the time.

Nicky Catsburg

I really like the picture with Norbi behind me, it shows the very nice atmosphere we have within the team and at the same time in pretty much the whole ETCR paddock. The level is very high with some of the best drivers from other racing categories around the world but still it is a very amicable environment which almost feels like we are pioneering with ETCR and electrical racing in general all together.

I also like the picture of me leading the group with Ekstrom, Blomqvist and JK. It is very good to race against drivers with such a pedigree in motorsport. The level is high so it is extra rewarding when you can get away with good results.

Giovanni Venturini

In Budapest it was good points for the team, for the championship and for me too. We did a mega start, it was a good fight with Ekström. P1 and P3 for the team in the final was good.

Jordi Gené

I was extremely happy because Spain is the best place to score such a fantastic result like this! Everything worked very well since the beginning of the race weekend in Jarama. I managed to get pole position in Qualifying with the fastest lap of the weekend.

Jean-Karl Vernay

It was the first weekend of the year so we were full of expectations and energy after the long winter and we couldn’t wait for this moment. It started very well with a great pole position. It is a moment I will, for sure, remember from last year. It was a fantastic lap. I yelled inside the car, inside the helmet on my way back to the pits because I was so, so happy. After all the work over the winter it was the perfect move from our side to show that we were motivated and focused to do our best for the season.

Norbert Michelisz

Trying the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 WRC car was a very special moment for me. I was wondering for a long time how driving it would feel like, and I enjoyed every moment of it. 🙂

Bruno Spengler

Vallelunga was a unique challenge with the very high temperatures but the team did a great job and once again we had a great car, just like we had a great car in Zolder, even though the two tracks are very different. I was in contention to finish on the podium for the weekend for sure, P2 or P3 was possible. I was running in P2 in the DHL Super Final and unfortunately we had a we had a failure, we’re not 100% sure about the cause, but we had a failure on the real left on the third lap. This made me lose control of the car in the fast T2 at Vallelunga, and you know the rest…

Mikel Azcona

The whole team works so hard to give us a competitive car – they are heroes behind the scenes. It was fantastic to celebrate our first win with them at the podium, which is why these photos are my favourite of the season.

Maxime Martin

It was the first time for me, and it was a perfect weekend. All my family was with me. We scored maximum points, and it was great to do it in my home race. Everyone was cheering, the team, the fans, my family and friends and the marshals too. The team worked very hard, they had some bad luck with the other drivers, but this was perfect.

Tom Blomqvist

Ending the season in the best way winning my first King of the Weekend.

Xavi Serra

I love this pic so it’s showing the reward of the hard work that we have done over the year.

Mattias Ekström

A dream result finishing 1,2,3 on our first weekend with CUPRA EKS. Adrien and Tom did a perfect job the whole weekend as well. There can only be one winner for sure and I’m happy that it’s me. But I would also be happy for the others and to get maximum points put us in a strong situation to start off the season like this.

Adrien Tambay

One of the best moments of my season when I won the title!

From everyone in FIA ETCR, thank you for your support in 2022!

Here’s to an even better 2023.
